Robert Hellwig

Robert Hellwig has been CISO and Head of the Staff Unit Information Security and Data Privacy at the University of Siegen since 2020. Under his leadership, the university's information security management system (ISMS) was expanded on the basis of BSI IT-Grundschutz and redesigned with the data protection management system to form an integrated management system (IMS). Since mid-2023, he has also been responsible for setting up the central coordination and advisory office of the Information Security Network of Universities in North Rhine-Westphalia (NISHS.nrw). This central entity has the aim of supporting and optimizing the activities of all universities in NRW with regard to improving information and cyber security.

As the owner of HeRo CISO, he also supports organizations in all matters relating to information security, data privacy and compliance, business continuity management, IT operating processes and data centers. Robert has already successfully managed a wide variety of projects - from the development of an IT strategy to the implementation and operation of ISMSs in accordance with international standards such as ISO/IEC 27001, BSI IT-Grundschutz and TISAX. The certified ISO/IEC 27001 Senior Lead Auditor also has extensive experience with German financial and assurance regulations (BAIT/VAIT), German regulator BaFin audits in financial institutions and in the environment of critical infrastructures. As a member of the board of the CISO Alliance, he is also committed to the networking and qualification of CISOs.
